Dear Mr Gordon,

This letter is my formal application for your Secretary vacancy which was advertised today on the Dayjob.com website.

I already possess experience of a similar role and have all of the skills highlighted in your job description. This fact alone makes me confident that I will be able to hit the ground running and become an immediate and valuable asset to your company.

Based on the experience that I have gained over the last 3 years with my present employer, I am now well-versed in key administrative processes such as; photo copying, taking phone calls, responding to emails, managing documents, updating spreadsheets, word processing and setting up and maintaining office filing systems. With my present employer my superb grasp of punctuation, grammar, and spelling has meant that I have now been given the important task of proof reading all the business correspondence of the Company Directors. My other key competencies include maintaining diaries and monitor the movements of Senior Manager, including making appointments for them and arrangements for their meetings and lunches.

The attached CV will give more details of my abilities, however what it does not show is my professional demeanour, smart appearance and ambition to be the best at whatever I do. I am a confident and very adaptable individual who has a deep hunger to learn and grow professionally.

I am available for an interview at your earliest convenience, and feel that an arranged meeting between us will be beneficial to all as it will allow me to explain in more detail how I can contribute to your organisation.

I greatly appreciate the time you have taken to read my application.

Yours sincerely,

Karen Higgins

Secretary Cover Letter Sample 2

I learned of the available position through a friend who works at your company. I am interested in the position listed and believe that I have the qualifications appropriate for the position.

I am currently employed as Secretary for a school in Milwaukee. Although I enjoy working in the educational setting, I would like a new challenge. I have over two years experience working as a receptionist and cashier where I greeted customers, answered telephones using a multiple line switchboard, answered customer’s questions and concerns, and directed customers to the appropriate departments. While working as a receptionist, I worked closely with the Vice President of Operations reviewing applications, handling employee concerns, assisting in payroll and working as his assistant for a summer. I have used several different software programs and am a quick learner, should I need to learn any new programs. I can also type over 50 words per minute and 10 key.

As an Educational Interpreter, I have extensive experience communicating both in writing and one on one conversation with different personalities and I was often involved in meetings with student’s families to discuss educational and behavioral plans. I was also required to submit forms and documents in accordance with district guidelines.

I can work independently and I am organized and detail orientated. As the itinerant interpreter, I managed my own schedule and arranged coverage for any interpreter absences. I am flexible and am willing to do whatever needs to be done to meet the end goal.

I look forward to talking to you regarding the available position. If you would like to contact me, please feel free to do so. My phone number and email address is listed below. Thank you in advance for your consideration.

Secretary Cover Letter Sample 3

I am pleased to be applying for the position of secretary at your company. My resume and application are attached. As you can see from my resume, I have more than six years experience doing secretarial work. In addition, I have taken several classes in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel and PowerPoint). I pride myself on taking full advantage of all the computer has to offer.

If I had to sum up my work personality in a single word it would be “unflappable.” I have worked in large and small offices. I have provided support both to a single boss and to several bosses. I am capable of handling multiple deadlines and moving along several projects at the same time.

I have worked as part of a team and on my own. If given a large project, such as reorganizing a file system, I know how to break it down in steps, keeping the files accessible while revamping the system. I take great satisfaction from making a schedule come together, whether it be a travel itinerary, board meeting or conference schedule. I deliver meeting notes that are timely, accurate and useful.

Your company looks like a place that would challenge my skills and benefit from my experience. I take a great deal of pride in keeping my work accurate and doing what it takes to meet deadlines. I know the importance of having a solid administrative person in any organization and I am very capable of being that person.

I would welcome the opportunity to meet and discuss this position with you in person. I can provide references for you that address my background and office skills at that time. I look forward to hearing from you.
